1.The Roof

If the roof of the home is under three stories tall and not too steep then the home inspector may check this area. Keep in mind that home inspectors only inspect things that are easily accessible!

2. The Swimming Pool

If the home has a swimming pool the home inspector will perform a very brief inspection in which they will not evaluate any cracks or dents within the pool. If you would like a more thorough inspection of the swimming pool you can hire a professional pool inspector.

3. Mould, Asbestos or Radon

To properly check and identify any of these, inspectors would need to take samples and lab testing be carried out. If you would like these tests to be carried out you can always hire a specialist

4. Outlets

Home inspectors will not inspect electrical outlets which are behind heavy pieces of furniture or are not easily accessible. Asking the current homeowner where the electrical outlets are located ahead of time means that you can move any furniture out of the way before the home inspection.

5. The Chimney

A very brief inspection of the chimney and fireplace will be carried out by the home inspector who will not check for soot and creosote build-up. If you would like a more thorough inspection to be carried out, you can arrange an additional inspection for an additional fee.

6. Ground Beneath The Home

Home inspectors will not access the structural integrity of your land. If this is a concern, you can hire a geotechnical or structural engineer to perform the inspection.
